Down-tuned riffs. Psychedelic textures. Darkness without compromise.
New album in preparation — Inferno Metal Festival 2026.
Automaton is a psychedelic doom / post-black metal band formed in 2012 in Athens, Greece. Their sound combines down-tuned, slow-tempo riffs with minimalistic patterns, psychedelic textures and black metal elements.
Over more than a decade, they have built a dense, immersive world where drone, doom, and the avant-garde collide — drawing comparisons to the most uncompromising voices in heavy music.
Their second album Τάλως (Talos) features a landmark collaboration with legendary Cretan lyra player Psarantonis — a meeting of ancient musical tradition and modern heaviness that stands as one of the most distinctive moments in contemporary Greek metal.
A third studio album is currently in preparation, planned for release in 2026, with the band confirmed to perform at Inferno Metal Festival 2026 in Oslo.
A dark, drone-drenched debut through psychedelic doom. Spacey, sludgy, and deeply immersive — a transcendental journey through Greek heaviness.
A towering, devastating work. Doom, drone and black metal in long-form compositions. Features a collaboration with legendary Cretan lyra player Psarantonis on Talos Awakens.
From the stages of Oslo to the ancient fortresses of Crete, Automaton deliver a live experience as immersive and uncompromising as their records.
